The importance of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms to Paul

image

For the scripture is saying: "Whoever believes in him shall not be ashamed."

imageimage

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard and comprehended? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

imageimage

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach Good News of good things!

imageimage

But they have not all listened to the Good News of the Scriptures. For Elijah is saying: "Lord Teacher, who has believed our account?"

image

So then faith comes through hearing, and hearing and comprehending, through the Word - the life breath of Christ.

imageimage

But I say, have they not heard? Yes certainly, their voices went into all the Way, and their Words to the conclusion of the limits.

imageimage

But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses is saying : I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people , and by a foolish nation I will angeryou."

imageimage

But through boldness Isaiah is saying: "I was found by them that did not seek me; I was made manifest to them that did not ask for me."

imageimage

God has not cast away his people which he foreknew . Do you not know what the Scriptureis saying of Elijah ? How he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying:

imageimage

"Lord Teacher, they have killed your Prophets , and demolished your tables , and I am left alone, and they seek my life."

imageimage

According as it is written: "God has given them the Spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and observe, and ears that they should not hear and comprehend to this very day."

imageimage

And David is saying: "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence to them.

imageimage

Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see , and bend their back."

imageimage

For even Christ did not please himself - but, as it is written: "The reproaches of them that reproached you fell on me."

imageimage

"For whatever things were written before our time were written for our learning, that we, through patience and Salvation of the Scriptures, might have hope."

imageimage

And do not live according to the pattern of this World: but you be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect desire of God.

imageimageimage

For I say , through the grace entrusted to me, to every one that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think with a sound mind, according as God has dealt to every one the apportioned measure of faith.
